CarePoint Housing is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Supported Housing Officer to join our growing Housing Team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals by providing high-quality, person-centred support within our supported housing services. At CarePoint Housing, we pride ourselves on delivering a warm, professional, and responsive service that empowers service users to achieve greater independence, stability, and wellbeing. The successful candidate will work closely with a committed team of support professionals, external agencies, and housing colleagues to deliver tailored support that promotes positive outcomes for service users.

About the Role

The Supported Housing Officer plays a key role in delivering high-quality, person centred support to individuals living within CarePoint Housing’s supported accommodation services. The role is focused on supporting service users to sustain their accommodation, improve their wellbeing, develop independent living skills, and progress towards greater stability and independence. Working within a supported housing environment, the Supported Housing Officer will provide practical and emotional support to individuals who may have experienced homelessness, mental health challenges, substance misuse, social exclusion, or other complex needs. The postholder will work closely with internal teams and external agencies to ensure service users receive coordinated, holistic support tailored to their individual needs. This role requires a compassionate, resilient, and proactive individual who can build positive professional relationships, effectively manage challenging situations, maintain professional boundaries, and uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Support & Wellbeing

Provide regular emotional, motivational, and wellbeing support to service users.
Support individuals in developing structure, confidence, coping strategies, and independent living skills to become tenancy ready.
Assist service users in accessing health services, mental health support, substance misuse services, and social care professionals.
Encourage positive lifestyle choices and participation in community-based and wellbeing activities.
Offer early intervention during periods of crisis, distress, or isolation, escalating concerns appropriately.

Provide practical personal support, including:

Guidance with daily routines and personal organisation
Encouragement around personal hygiene and self-care
Support with attending appointments and engaging with services

Safeguarding & Risk Management

Identify, respond to, and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with organisational procedures.
Contribute to the development and review of support plans and risk assessments.
Maintain professional boundaries and promote a safe, supportive environment for all service users.

Recording & Administration

Maintain accurate, timely, and professional records of all support provided.
Ensure support activities are appropriately documented and categorised.
Participate in supervision, reflective practice sessions, team meetings, and case reviews.

Partnership & Multi-Agency Working

Work collaboratively with Housing Management teams, Support Officers, and external agencies to deliver coordinated support.
Encourage service users to engage with statutory services and community resources.
Attend multi-agency meetings and contribute to collaborative support planning where required.

Person Specification Essential Criteria

Experience supporting vulnerable adults or individuals with complex needs.
Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build professional rapport. Knowledge and understanding of Housing Benefit, Universal Credit housing costs, and welfare-related support processes.
Ability to remain calm and effective when supporting individuals in crisis situations.
Competent IT skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
Understanding of confidentiality, GDPR, and professional boundaries.
Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one).
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively as part of the role.

Desirable Criteria

Experience working within supported housing, homelessness services, or similar environments. Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and strengths-based approaches.
Experience or training relating to mental health, substance misuse, or behavioural support.
