Job Title: Band 8a Medical Workforce Manager

Location: Nottingham City Hospital Campus, Hucknall Road, Nottingham NG5 1PH (Hybrid - 2 days onsite)

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 9:00 - 5:00

Salary: Band 8a £26.06 per hour + accrued holiday pay

End Date: 6 Months

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Workforce Manager to oversee staffing operations within our NHS Trust partnerships in Nottingham. Based in the UK, this role plays a vital part in ensuring the optimal deployment of healthcare professionals, supporting our mission to improve patient care and workforce flexibility.

Responsibilities

Medical Workforce Leadership: Line manage the Medical Staffing Team and ensure the unique requirements of medical colleagues are integrated into organizational people programmes.
Rostering & Job Planning: Oversee medical rota coordination, enforce contractually compliant electronic rostering, and coordinate annual Job Planning.
Recruitment & Locums: Lead on both strategic and operational medical recruitment, manage temporary staffing, and source locum cover within the Trust's governance guidelines.
Compliance: Ensure robust systems are in place so clinical colleagues receive annual appraisals and are supported with GMC revalidation.
Lead and supervise the medical workforce team to ensure efficient staffing processes.
Manage budgets and financial planning for workforce deployment.
Coordinate with NHS Trusts and healthcare professionals to meet staffing needs.
Develop and implement HR policies related to medical staffing.
Support international recruitment initiatives for nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals.
Monitor workforce performance and implement improvements.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
Foster a collaborative environment aligned with NHS values.

Qualifications

Proven supervising experience within healthcare or related fields.
Strong management skills with experience in workforce or project management.
Knowledge of financial management principles.
Background in human resources or personnel management.
Experience or familiarity with healthcare staffing is preferred.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Ability to work effectively within NHS frameworks and standards.
Prior experience with international recruitment is a plus.
