Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly and organised Play Cafe Assistant to join our vibrant team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment for children and their families, assisting with food and beverage service, and ensuring the smooth operation of the cafe.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to combine a passion for customer service with a love of working in a lively, family-friendly setting.

The position is paid and suitable for individuals who enjoy engaging with people and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Duties

Welcome guests and ensure they have an enjoyable experience in the play cafe environment
Serve food and beverages, including preparing simple snacks and drinks as required
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all food preparation and serving activities
Assist children with play activities while ensuring their safety at all times
Manage the cash register, handle transactions accurately, and maintain records of sales
Keep the cafe clean, tidy, and organised, including sanitising tables, play areas, and kitchen surfaces
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth daily operations
Support with organising special events or themed days within the cafe setting
Collaborate with team members to deliver excellent customer service

Qualifications

Previous experience as a barista or in serving food and beverages is preferred but not essential
Knowledge of food safety standards is highly desirable
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Friendly, approachable manner with excellent communication skills
Organised with attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and safety standards

This role offers an engaging environment where you can develop your customer service skills while working in a fun, family-oriented setting.

What we are looking for:

- Must be 18+

- Friendly & approachable

- Reliable & Flexible

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Current DBS - But not essential.

- Available Every other Friday and Every other Saturday with the potential to cover other days. (1 week work a friday and the next week work a saturday) Then other shifts will be available as required.

What we offer:

- 26 Hour per month contract ( 1 day a week )

- Additional shifts available to cover annual leave, sickness & extra help during busy periods.
