Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant / Front of House to join our vibrant team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food and beverages, and maintaining a welcoming environment for all guests. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering a high standard of service and possess a positive attitude. Previous experience in a café or hospitality setting is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and take their orders accurately
Serve food and beverages in a timely and professional manner
Prepare drinks, including coffee and specialised beverages, adhering to quality standards
Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are maintained
Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system, including giving correct change
Maintain cleanliness of the front of house area, including tables, counters, and display areas
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations at all times
Manage multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods, demonstrating good time management skills
Provide exceptional customer service to enhance guest experience

Requirements

Knowledge of food safety standards is essential
Previous barista experience or serving background is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided for those new to the role
Ability to perform basic maths accurately for cash handling and transactions
Strong organisational skills with good time management abilities to handle busy periods effectively
Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour
Ability to work well within a team and independently when required
Basic food preparation skills are advantageous but not compulsory
Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if necessary
