Seasonal Luggage & Linen Porter - The Bracken Hide Hotel, Portree, Isle of Skye

Location: Struan Road, Portree, Isle of Skye

Salary: An hourly rate of £13.85 (+ £1.00 as a housing allowance if you do not require subsidised staff accommodation) + tips & benefits

The Opportunity

Some hotels have lifts and long hallways. We have winding paths, fresh air, and breathtaking views, and we're looking for someone who can handle them all with a smile.

At The Bracken Hide, our Luggage & Linen Porters are at the heart of the operation; connecting guests, hides, and teams across our hillside retreat. You'll be driving our electric golf buggies to deliver luggage, linens, and supplies safely across the site, keeping the rhythm of the resort flowing smoothly.

This is a hands-on, physical, and outdoors role, perfect for someone who loves the fresh Skye air, doesn't mind a few raindrops, and takes pride in being the person everyone depends on.

About Bracken Hide

Perched high above Portree, The Bracken Hide is a luxury wilderness resort spread across 52 acres of rugged hillside overlooking the Sound of Raasay.

Our 45 timber hides are connected by scenic paths and surrounded by wild beauty, each one a cosy, design-led retreat featuring underfloor heating, Harris Tweed touches, and floor-to-ceiling views.

At the heart of the property lies The Bracken, home to our Am Braigh restaurant, whisky bar (the snug), plunge pool, and Estonian saunas. It's where guests gather after exploring the island, and where your deliveries and guest interactions make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities

Safely transport guest luggage and housekeeping supplies between hides and the Bracken using electric golf buggies.

Deliver fresh linens, towels, and amenities to housekeeping stations across the site.

Assist with luggage collection and delivery for arriving and departing guests.

Support the housekeeping team with moving stock, waste, and deliveries as needed.

Maintain cleanliness and presentation of service areas, buggies, and storage spaces.

Conduct regular vehicle checks to ensure buggies are charged, clean, and safe.

Adhere to strict safety protocols when operating vehicles on uneven terrain.

Provide friendly, helpful guest service at every opportunity, you'll often be the first and last person guests meet.

Assist other departments during busy periods, teamwork is key on the hillside. Uphold all health, safety, and hygiene standards, including COSHH compliance.

What We're Looking For

Full, clean UK driving licence (essential).

Confidence driving small electric vehicles safely on uneven, sloped, and occasionally muddy terrain.

Good level of physical fitness, able to lift and carry luggage and supplies safely.

Reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious at all times.

A team player with strong communication skills and a can-do attitude.

Pride in presentation and attention to detail, both personally and in your work.

A love of the outdoors and the ability to work in all weather conditions, rain, shine, or Skye mist!

Friendly and approachable, with a genuine passion for helping guests and supporting the team
