Role: Craft Team Member Mechanical Central Workshops

Location: Scunthorpe
Shifts: 2-shift system 06.00-14.00 & 14.00-22.00 (with 10% shift premium)
Salary:£40405.61 + Shift Premium + Benefits

Are you a skilled Mechanical Fitter looking for a role that offers variety, autonomy, and the chance to make a real impact? Join our dedicated support team within the self-contained AIRED Mechanical Workshop facility, where your expertise will help keep British Steel’s wider operations running smoothly.

About the Role

As a Craft Team Member Mechanical, you’ll be part of a close-knit team providing essential mechanical support across a wide range of plant and equipment. This isn’t just a maintenance role—it’s a chance to work on diverse and interesting items that directly support multiple business areas within British Steel.

You’ll be working in a fully equipped, self-contained workshop designed to enable efficient, high-quality work. From overhauls and refurbishments to reactive repairs, your day-to-day will be varied and rewarding.

What You’ll Be Doing

Carrying out mechanical fitting, repairs, and refurbishments

Working on a wide range of components and assemblies

Supporting operational teams across British Steel’s business units

Ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and reliability

Collaborating with a skilled team in a well-resourced workshop

What We’re Looking For

NVQ Level 3 mechanical or similar qualification

Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Commitment to safety and continuous improvement

Flexibility to work shifts and respond to operational needs
