About Freedom Coffee
Freedom Coffee is an independent specialty coffee roastery based in Borough Green, Kent.
We roast exceptional coffee that does good—for farmers, for people and for the planet.
There's the big coffee chains where nobody knows where the beans came from, and then there's the ultra-serious coffee shop where ordering a flat white feels like an exam.
Freedom Coffee sits somewhere in the middle.
We believe incredible coffee should be approachable, welcoming and enjoyable—without compromising on quality.
Today you'll find us roasting our own coffee, serving commuters from our weekday takeaway pitch, attending food festivals and supplying customers across the UK.
Over the coming months we're opening our first café in Borough Green, making this an exciting time to join a growing business from the beginning.
The Opportunity
We're looking for someone who enjoys making great coffee, loves chatting to people and wants to grow with a young business.
Initially you'll be serving coffee from our weekday takeaway pitch, as well as supporting markets, events and pop-ups.
As the business expands, you'll have the opportunity to take on more responsibility, more regular hours and, for the right person, progress into a senior role helping shape how Freedom Coffee operates.
This isn't just another barista job.
It's an opportunity to join a business at the beginning of its journey and genuinely help build something special.
What you'll do
- Prepare consistently excellent espresso-based drinks and other beverages.
- Deliver warm, genuine customer service that keeps people coming back.
- Talk confidently about our coffees, where they come from and how we roast them (don't worry—we'll teach you everything).
- Dial in espresso and adjust grinders as required (training provided).
- Help set up and pack down equipment for markets, events and takeaway service.
- Keep the coffee bar clean, organised and well stocked.
- Process card and cash payments accurately.
- Follow food hygiene and food safety procedures.
- Represent Freedom Coffee with positivity, professionalism and pride.
About you
You'll probably enjoy this role if you are:
- Friendly and naturally enjoy talking to people.
- Reliable enough that we never have to wonder whether you'll turn up.
- Calm under pressure and able to maintain quality during busy periods.
- Happy with early starts (some shifts begin around 6am).
- Curious about specialty coffee and excited to learn.
- Happy helping with equipment set-up and pack-down.
- Based reasonably close to Borough Green.
Previous barista experience is welcomed, although attitude, reliability and personality are the deciding factors of our jobs, over whether you've already made thousands of flat whites.
Applicants must be aged 16+.
What you'll get
- £13.00–£16.00 per hour, depending on experience.
- Paid training and a paid trial shift.
- Free coffee (obviously).
- Staff discount on coffee beans and merchandise.
- Genuine opportunities to increase your hours as the business grows.
- The chance to work with coffee roasted in-house on our Aillio Bullet and Giesen W6A roasters.
- A front-row seat to building an ambitious independent specialty coffee company.
Most importantly, this role comes with genuine progression.
As we open our Borough Green café and continue to grow, we're looking to develop someone into a permanent member of the team. For the right person, there's a clear pathway towards increased responsibility and the opportunity to progress into an Operations Manager role as the business expands.

Apply through Indeed and tell us:
- Why you'd be a great fit for Freedom Coffee.

We can't teach reliability, kindness and enthusiasm.
Our recruitment process

One final thing...
We're not looking for someone to simply make coffee.
We're looking for someone who wants to help build one of Kent's most exciting independent coffee businesses.
If you're excited by joining a company at the start of its journey, growing alongside it, and having the opportunity to shape where it goes next, we'd love to hear from you.
