Job description

Main Purpose of Role

To provide a comprehensive Crime Scene Management and investigation capability across the East Midlands Region under the direction and control of EMSOU-FS, principally focusing on service delivery to serious and major crime.

Ensures a comprehensive, efficient, and effective local and regional Crime Scene Investigation service is delivered by maximising forensic opportunities and providing day to day supervision of Tier 1 and 2 Crime Scene Investigators.

Key Skills & Experience Required

To be a qualified and experienced CSI to Stage 2 or equivalent.

Ability to cope with stressful and traumatic situations encountered when dealing with victims of crime or examining crime scenes.
Ability to direct members of the public and other police personnel when taking control of a crime scene to ensure the integrity of available evidence.
Experience at working in a logical, methodical manner, even when under pressure and able to demonstrate independent decision making to the investigative process.
The proven ability to supervise, motivate and manage staff having regard for their personal development and welfare issues.
Demonstrable depth and breadth of knowledge, skills and experience in crime scene examination and related forensic processes.

Shift Allowances:

Weekend working and unsociable hours allowances apply as part of 7 day working shift pattern. Payments also for standby. All shift allowances in accordance with Police Staff Handbook.
