Receptionist

Location: Hitchin Dental Care – Hitchin, Hertfordshire
Position Type: Part-time, Full-time / Permanent
Pay: From £13.50 per hour

Job Overview

We are looking for a friendly, organised, and professional Dental Receptionist to join our busy dental practice. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in delivering excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth running of the front desk.

As a Dental Receptionist, you will be responsible for welcoming patients, managing appointments, handling enquiries, and supporting the clinical team with administrative tasks. You will help create a positive and reassuring experience for patients while maintaining accurate records and adhering to confidentiality and data protection standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organisational skills, a calm and professional manner, and the ability to manage a busy reception area efficiently. Previous experience in a dental or healthcare setting is desirable, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Reception / Administrative Duties:

Provide a warm, welcoming, and professional reception service for all patients.
Manage appointment bookings, recalls, and cancellations efficiently using our dental and patient management software.
Handle telephone, email and in-person enquiries in a courteous and helpful manner.
Managing patient enquiries and referrals through CRM systems, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely follow-up.
Process payments, maintain accurate records, and assist with patient correspondence.
Following up on patient enquiries and referrals through CRM systems.
Liaise effectively with clinicians and colleagues to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
Maintain accurate patient records and support compliance with GDPR and confidentiality policies.
General administrative duties.
Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the reception area to ensure a welcoming environment.

Qualities and Experience

Previous reception experience in a private or mixed dental practice is preferred.
Excellent communication, organisation, and multitasking skills.
A friendly, professional manner yet approachable with a genuine focus on patient care.
Flexible and adaptable team player, able to prioritise effectively.
