Full job description

Job Title: Maintenance Operative
Location: Scarborough-based (with essential travel across North Yorkshire, East Riding, Hull, Derby, and other areas as needed)
Salary: Starting from £28,000
Hours: Full-Time (40 hours per week, 9am-5pm Monday-Friday)
On-call: Occasional out-of-hours emergency cover required

Alex Hogg Memorial Trust (AHMT) is a small, family-run housing charity dedicated to providing homes for individuals with learning disabilities or autism. Our properties are welcoming domestic environments embedded in local communities across North Yorkshire, Humber, and Derbyshire, with our head office based in York.

We are passionate about making a difference and are looking for enthusiastic, values-driven individuals to join our team.

About the Role

The Maintenance Operative will support the charity by ensuring properties are well-maintained, safe, and comfortable for tenants. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will handle a wide variety of repair and maintenance tasks, ensuring high standards of upkeep and tenant satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Repairs & Maintenance

Perform general repairs, including joinery, painting, plumbing, and minor works.
Assist with property refurbishments between tenancies.
Proactively identify and resolve maintenance issues, completing tasks efficiently and to a high standard.

Property Portfolio Management

Collaborate with the Property Team to provide exceptional service to tenants and caregivers.
Coordinate access to properties and liaise with specialist trades when required.
Participate in an on-call rota (26 weeks per year), including alternate Christmas and Bank Holiday cover.

General Responsibilities

Maintain inventory of materials and spare parts.
Undertake varied tasks such as furniture handling, gardening, and cleaning gutters.
Uphold professional standards when interacting with tenants and stakeholders.
