Analyst (NEROCU)

Research & Analysis Department – NEROCU

Salary: Band 8, £36,066 - £41,028 (Please note it is Northumbria Police policy to appoint at the beginning of the band)
Location: Sunderland
Hours: 37 Hours per week
Contract: Permanent

The Role

We are seeking an Analyst to join the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit (NEROCU) within the Research and Analytical Team.

What You'll Do

As an Analyst within NEROCU, you will play a key role in supporting the regional response to Serious and Organised Crime through the production of high-quality analytical products and intelligence-led insights.

Key Responsibilities

Produce analytical products that support strategic, tactical, and operational activity in tackling Serious and Organised Crime across the region.
Analyse intelligence, crimes and a variety of information sources to identify key SOC threats and risks
Provide insights and recommendations to support decision-making
Support investigations through the production of evidential analytical products and attendance at court where required.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, police forces, and partner agencies to develop intelligence and deliver coordinated responses.
Ensure analytical products meet professional, legislative, and evidential standards, including the National Intelligence Model (NIM).
Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of analytical capability within NEROCU.

You will bring:

Experience of conducting detailed research and analysis using a variety of data, intelligence, and information sources.
Knowledge of analytical methodologies, intelligence analysis techniques, and their practical application within a policing, intelligence, or similar environment.
An understanding of information management principles, data quality standards, and the National Intelligence Model (NIM).
Strong critical thinking skills and using appropriate analytical techniques and software to assess threat, harm, and risk
The ability to identify intelligence gaps and develop recommendations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to a range of audiences.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills and be able to build effective working relationships across teams, forces, and partner organisations.
Experience of using Microsoft Office applications and use of analytical software.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.

A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the UK as required.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the disruption of Serious and Organised Crime and help keep communities safe across the North East and beyond.

The above duties and responsibilities give a broad outline of the function of the post. However, by necessity, these duties and responsibilities must be approached in a flexible manner to accommodate the changing needs and demands of the Research & Analytical function. The post-holder will be expected to adapt to changing circumstances and therefore the outline of duties may change from time to time. We are currently recruiting for two Analyst positions within NEROCU: one in the Analysis Team and one in the Proactive Economic Crime Team (PECT).

However, applicants who apply for both positions will only be required to complete one recruitment process. Results from the assessment process will be used to determine suitability for both roles.
