Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our Account's team. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will work closely with the accounts team, supporting the smooth and effective day-to-day operation of the function.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements and balance sheet reconciliations.
Perform variance analysis, comparing actual financial results against budgets and forecasts, and provide clear explanations for significant variances.
Review, prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with relevant requirements and deadlines.
Prepare comprehensive month-end financial reports for management teams.
Monitor and evaluate existing financial systems and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and recommending appropriate enhancements.
Produce ad hoc financial reports, analysis and data to support business decision-making and management requirements.
Review and authorise employee expense claims, ensuring they comply with company policies and procedures.
Assist with the management and oversight of the transactional finance team, providing guidance and support as required.
To prepare, maintain, and regularly update cash flow and profit and loss forecasts.
Assist with and oversee the accounts department's day-to-day functions, ensuring tasks are completed accurately, efficiently and within agreed deadlines.
Maintain a high level of professional knowledge by attending relevant training courses and professional development activities.
Undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as required by the Finance Director.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will ideally have the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

Qualifications & Experience

Part-qualified or fully qualified ACCA or CIMA.
Experience of preparing and reconciling complex accounts, with excellent attention to detail.
Previous experience using Sage 50 Accounting Software would be advantageous.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, with excellent Excel skills.

Ability to commute to a rural location is essential.

Hours

37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri.

08:30am-17:00pm.

1 hour unpaid lunch break, each day.

Salary

£35,000 - £45,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
