Head of Fitness
Location: Rustington BN16 4NB
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (rota basis including evenings, weekends & bank holidays)
Salary: Competitive + Bonus Opportunities (£35,000 OTE)

We’re looking for a dynamic and motivated Head of Fitness to lead our Personal Training and Fitness team while driving a thriving gym-floor culture that sets the standard for excellence.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll combine commercial awareness, people management, and a genuine passion for fitness to grow PT revenue, motivate the team, and deliver an outstanding member experience across the club.
You’ll play a key role in shaping the energy, atmosphere, and success of the club, leading by example every day.

What You’ll Be Doing
As Head of Fitness & Duty Manager, you will:
- Lead, motivate, and develop the Personal Training & Fitness team
- Drive PT revenue growth through performance management, target setting and training
- Create an engaging, welcoming, and high-energy gym environment
- Ensure all fitness staff deliver exceptional service and member experiences
- Conduct regular 1-2-1s, training, development, and performance reviews
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and holiday management within the department
- Ensure all PTs are qualified, compliant, and operating to CIMSPA standards
- Organise monthly gym challenges, member engagement initiatives, and team incentives
- Work closely with marketing to promote fitness campaigns and club activities
- Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation, and brand consistency
- Ensure all new members receive inductions and ongoing fitness support
- Monitor club standards, health & safety, and operational excellence across the gym floor
- Lead by example to create a positive, motivating, and inclusive fitness culture
- Supporting the effective running of the club by undertaking Duty Management shifts.

- Passionate about fitness, people, and delivering exceptional member experiences
- An experienced leader with strong people management skills
- Commercially aware and driven to achieve sales and performance targets
- Confident, proactive, and highly organised
- Motivated by developing others and building a high-performing team
- Experienced within the leisure, health & fitness, or hospitality industry
- Professional, approachable, and able to lead from the front
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous management or supervisory experience within fitness/leisure
- Experience selling and delivering PT sessions.
- Strong knowledge of the fitness industry
- Experience managing KPIs, performance, and team development
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays

Experience:
- Supervising: 2 years (preferred)
- Fitness Industry: 2 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Level 3 Personal Training Qualification (preferred)
