Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sushi Chef to join our culinary team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi, and possess strong skills in food preparation and presentation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise in a vibrant restaurant environment, delivering authentic sushi experiences to our valued guests.

Duties

Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi dishes with precision and attention to detail
Ensure all food is prepared according to established recipes and presentation standards
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in the kitchen at all times
Assist in meal preparation for service periods, including cutting, rolling, and plating sushi
Monitor ingredient freshness and manage stock levels to ensure availability of quality products
Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operation during busy service hours
Keep the work area clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
Serve dishes to customers when required, providing excellent customer service

Requirements

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a chef within a restaurant setting
Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques and presentation skills
Familiarity with food safety standards and best practices in a professional kitchen
Previous experience in culinary roles specialising in Japanese cuisine is desirable
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service times
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Previous experience in serving or customer interaction is advantageous
