Full job description

The Pastoral, Safeguarding and Reintegration Manager is a pivotal role within Brightstar's alternative provision. The postholder leads on pastoral support, safeguarding and the coordination of reintegration for young people returning to mainstream education.

As Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), you will ensure robust safeguarding processes are in place across our provision. Equally important is your role in building and strengthening relationships with schools, SENCOs, pastoral leads and commissioners, driving referral growth and ensuring Brightstar remains the partner of choice for schools seeking support for their most vulnerable young people.

This is a role for someone who is equally passionate about protecting young people and championing their futures - someone who can work with empathy and professionalism across the full breadth of this role

Key responsibilities:

Student Support & Pastoral Care

Build strong, trusting relationships with young people experiencing social, emotional and behavioural challenges.

Develop and implement individual support plans to improve engagement, attendance, behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions focused on resilience, self-esteem and emotional regulation.

Work closely with families, carers and professionals to identify and remove barriers to education.

Reintegration & School Liaison Lead the planning and coordination of phased reintegration programmes for young people returning to mainstream school.

Develop bespoke transition plans and work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral leads.

Attend review meetings and maintain regular, proactive communication with school partners.

Support schools in implementing strategies that help young people succeed and sustain their placements.

Safeguarding & DSL Responsibilities Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), managing safeguarding concerns in line with statutory guidance including Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Maintain accurate, up-to-date safeguarding records and liaise with children's social care and early help teams.

Promote and embed a strong safeguarding culture across Brightstar's provision through policy implementation and staff training. Deliver regular safeguarding updates and briefings to ensure all staff understand their responsibilities
