Senior Accountant
Stanmore, Middlesex
£40,000 - £55,000 DOE

WestonBrook Associates are delighted to be supporting this well-established independent accounting firm based in Stanmore, Northwest London, in their search for an experienced Senior/Client Accountant to join their existing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional who enjoys managing client relationships, providing technical expertise, and taking responsibility for a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, companies, individuals and charities.

The Role

Working closely with the Directors and wider professional team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and overseeing the delivery of accounting, taxation and advisory services.

Key responsibilities:

Managing a portfolio of corporate and individual clients as the primary point of contact
Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships as well as those for rental property accounts and self-employed accounts.
Preparing and submitting Corporation, Personal and Capital Gains tax returns
Preparing and reviewing VAT Returns, including supporting clients through Making Tax Digital requirements
Reviewing work in progress and monitoring chargeable time to ensure portfolio profitability
Liaising directly with HMRC and handling tax queries, investigations and routine correspondence
Providing general tax advice to clients, including guidance relating to R&D claims, ATED and MTD
Supporting with audit assignments as required

About you

At least 5+ years' experience working for a small UK based practice in the capacity of Senior or Client Accountant with responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients.
Experience preparing Medium Size Company Accounts, Charity Accounts, and Consolidated Accounts.
Audit experience is desirable but not essential
Ideally proficient in the use of Sage products such as SAPA as well as Xero and QuickBooks
Supervisory experience of reviewing the work of outsourced accounting staff
Excellent communication skills as you will be regularly liaising with clients and the HMRC

Please note: This is a fully office-based position with no hybrid working. Applicants should be within a reasonable commuting distance of Stanmore, ideally with a journey time of no more than 45 minutes.
