Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and organised individual Assistant to support our culinary team at a local pub in shortwood. The ideal candidate will assist with food preparation, ensure food safety standards are maintained, and contribute to creating a welcoming environment for our guests. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their skills within the hospitality and catering industry.

Duties

Assist with food preparation and cooking tasks in accordance with established recipes and standards
Support the kitchen team in meal assembly and presentation
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and sanitising work surfaces
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
Help serve food to customers in a courteous and efficient manner
Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Support the team during busy service periods, ensuring timely delivery of meals
Assist with inventory checks and stock management

Requirements

Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or a kitchen environment is desirable but not essential as training will be provided
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Experience working in a restaurant or catering setting is advantageous
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Friendly, professional manner with excellent communication skills
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends if necessary
