Employer: J & L Hydraulics Limited T/A Pirtek Stoke
Pirtek Stoke Centre Manager
About the Role
We are looking for a technically minded and commercially aware Pirtek Stoke Centre Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our service centre, mobile service technicians and workshop team.
This is a hands-on management role for someone who understands the pace and pressure of hydraulic hose replacement, mobile service work, workshop activity and customer downtime. You will be the key link between customers, technicians, stock, service standards and business growth.
If you have a strong background in hydraulics, mechanical engineering, mobile hose replacement or technical service management, and you enjoy leading people as much as solving problems, this role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a busy local operation.
Key Responsibilities
Centre and Operations Management
- Oversee the daily running of the Pirtek Stoke Centre, including workshop activities, facility standards, opening times and general presentation.
- Manage work allocation across the Centre and mobile service technicians to ensure fast, professional and reliable customer service.
- Ensure customer calls, enquiries and complaints are handled effectively, professionally and promptly.
- Keep the Centre operating in line with Pirtek UK standards, systems and agreed procedures.
- Ensure all equipment is fit for purpose, properly maintained and calibrated where required.
- Support the smooth running of out-of-hours call handling and technician response arrangements.
Technical Leadership
- Provide practical technical support to mobile service technicians and workshop staff.
- Use your knowledge of hydraulics, hose assembly, fittings and mobile repair work to help the team solve customer problems quickly and safely.
- Ensure only trained and competent personnel work unsupervised.
- Regularly assess technician work on customer equipment to maintain quality, safety and service standards.
- Support training, development and ongoing technical improvement across the team.
Team Management
- Lead, motivate, schedule and supervise mobile service technicians and depot staff.
- Plan work rotas and daily priorities to balance urgent customer demand, workshop workload and technician availability.
- Recruit, train, appraise and develop team members.
- Hold regular team meetings, safety briefings and toolbox talks.
- Address performance, conduct or operational issues promptly, fairly and in line with employment procedures.
- Lead by example with high personal standards, reliability and a positive attitude.
Customer Service and Business Growth
- Act as one of the main points of contact for customers.
- Build and maintain strong local customer relationships.
- Support customer account management, local sales activity and business development.
- Ensure pricing is fair, consistent and in line with Pirtek UK guidelines.
- Represent the Centre professionally with customers, suppliers and the local business community.
- Help drive sales targets by identifying opportunities for additional service, product supply and account growth.
Stock, Logistics and Compliance
- Manage stock control, product ordering and availability to minimise customer downtime.
- Oversee dispatch timing and workflow to keep jobs moving efficiently.
- Ensure Health & Safety, Quality Management and Environmental Management systems are maintained to required standards.
- Support compliance with UK and European legislation relevant to the operation.
- Maintain accurate use of Pirtek systems including job management, CRM and stock control platforms.

- Good communication skills, both face-to-face and in writing.
- Able to deal professionally with customers, complaints and operational pressure.
- Organised, methodical and able to manage competing priorities.
