About Us:
Durnsford Lodge is a residential care home near Stoke Village in Plymouth. We are a very caring group of people providing people with a homely environment and kind, caring staff.
Our work environment includes:
A capacity of 28 beds

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Person to join our team. The Maintenance Person will be responsible for performing a variety of duties to ensure the proper functioning and upkeep of our facilities. This position requires strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Routine Maintenance & Repairs: Conducting minor repairs such as fixing broken locks, repairing furniture, replacing light bulbs, painting, decorating, and basic plumbing/carpentry tasks. Responding promptly to maintenance requests and prioritise tasks based on urgency.
Health & Safety Compliance: Performing daily, weekly, or monthly checks on fire safety systems (extinguishers, fire doors, alarms), emergency lighting, and water temperatures.
Safety Documentation: Maintaining detailed records and logs of all maintenance checks, repairs, and contractors' visits, complying with Health and Safety and COSHH Regulations.
Grounds Management: Maintaining and ensuring exterior and interior grounds are free from hazards. Keeping the premises safe and tidy to enhance residents’ quality of life. Troubleshoot and repair issues within the home.
Equipment Upkeep: Carrying out basic electrical safety checks and ensuring equipment are maintained.
Reporting: Promptly reporting serious hazards or defects to the Home Manager and contacting external contractors for major works.

Required Skills and Qualifications

DIY Skills: Proficiency in painting, decorating, plumbing, and general DIY.
Health and Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of health and safety standards in a residential setting.
Communication: Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. The ability to interact professionally with staff and residents.
Flexibility: Able to work proactively, manage a varied workload, and occasionally cover emergencies. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Organization: Strong record-keeping and time management skills.

Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
