Job Title: Deputy Manager

Location: Onsite role

Reports to: Day Centre Manager

Remuneration: Up to £30,000 PA

Job Summary

The Deputy Manager is responsible for planning, organising, and delivering a diverse range of engaging activities tailored to the interests, abilities, and needs of our participants. This role fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment while ensuring activities are safe, effective, and enjoyable. The Deputy Manager also contributes to community promotion and supports the wider goals of the Day Centre supporting and deputising the Day Centre Manager roles and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Activity planning, development and facilitation

Develop a variety of engaging activities tailored to participants’ abilities and interests.
Adapt activities to suit varying levels of mobility and cognitive ability.
Maintain a detailed weekly or monthly activity calendar within budget constraints.
Coordinate with the Day Centre Manager to ensure seamless program execution.
Lead and assist with group activities, ensuring inclusivity and engagement.
Provide clear instructions and encourage active participation.
Prepare, set up, and clean activity spaces, ensuring all materials and equipment are ready and functional.
Monitor participants’ safety and comfort, addressing signs of distress promptly.

Quality and Safety

Conduct risk assessments for activities and ensure adherence to safety guidelines.
Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents and report them appropriately.
Provide basic first aid or medical assistance if necessary.

Administrative Duties

Maintain accurate records of participant attendance and activity engagement.
Prepare reports on program effectiveness and participation levels.
Manage activity budgets, ensuring cost-effective resource use alongside Day Centre Manager
Order and maintain supplies and materials for activities.

Client Satisfaction and Activity Coordination

Monitor the physical and emotional well-being of participants through regular check-ins.
Plan and oversee engaging activities tailored to participants’ mobility and interests.
Collect feedback from participants and families to enhance services and activities.

Client Management and Client Attraction

Build rapport with participants to understand preferences and needs.
Encourage participation, especially among shy or reluctant individuals.
Ensure all activities are inclusive, accessible, and accommodating for all needs.
Act as the ambassador for the Day Centre’s social media presence, creating and managing posts to promote activities and events.
Collaborate with the Day Centre Manager to promote the service within the local community. Identify changes in participants’ care needs and communicate observations to management.
Support the promotion of the wider group’s homecare services by recognising participant needs and discussing additional services with families.

Qualifications and Experience

Experience in activity facilitation or a similar role, preferably within elder care or a related field.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to adapt activities to diverse needs and abilities.
Proficiency in using social media for promotion is an advantage.
A commitment to delivering compassionate and high-quality care services.
