The Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Health & Safety and Facilities Assistant to work in our facility in Severn Beach.
This role is responsible for supporting the safe and effective operation of food production facilities through coordination of health and safety standards, reporting and compliance activities. The role ensures a well-maintained environment supports operational compliance objectives by promoting continuous improvement and facilitating collaboration across teams.
The role adds value by supporting operational activities, applying procedures to operational requirements, and providing essential advice to maintain high standards of quality, efficiency, and regulatory adherence within the business.
Key responsibilities:
- Support compliance with occupational health & safety legislation and company policies to maintain safe production sites.
- Manage and maintain risk assessments, SOPs, safe systems of work, and compliance records to meet audit and legal requirements.
- Promote occupational health & safety awareness via engagement, toolbox talks and training support to promote safe working practices.
- Record, investigate, and follow up accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe practices to prevent recurrence and escalate findings where required.
- Conduct hazard identification, occupational health & safety inspections, and warehouse/factory walkthroughs to support timely corrective actions.
- Coordinate occupational health & safety documentation, permits, logs, and reporting to deliver accurate, on-time information.
- Liaise with contractors, service providers, and external specialists, supporting contractor oversight and compliant completion of works.
- Support facilities management and compliance; respond to issues and callouts to maintain operational continuity.
- Support operational continuity across both sites, travelling occasionally, and escalate atypical issues under established procedures.
- Assist with employee occupational health & safety guidance, support with training and operational compliance activities to ensure best practice.
Person specification/skills:
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification required.
- Demonstrable experience of supporting occupational health and safety compliance in production or facilities settings, maintaining risk assessments, SOPs and compliance records.
- Demonstrable experience of conducting inspections, recording and investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, and driving corrective actions.
- Demonstrable experience of coordinating with contractors and maintenance teams to oversee facilities works and ensure safe, compliant completion.
- Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and company policies for within manufacturing or operational environments, including compliance duties.
- Developed skill in maintaining and updating occupational health and safety documentation, risk assessments and compliance records accurately.
- Developed skill in carrying out site inspections, identifying hazards, and supporting incident investigation to support corrective actions.
- Developed skill in coordinating contractors and communicating requirements across teams to ensure compliant completion of works.
- Understanding of risk assessments, SOPs and safe systems of work, plus compliance record‑keeping for audits.
- Awareness of hazard identification, incident/near‑miss reporting and basic contractor coordination and facilities compliance activities.
Hours and location of work:
The hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday at Severn Beach with a salary of up to £32,000 dependant on experience. Some occasional travel to our Newbury site will be a requirement of this role.

The hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday with a salary of up to £39,977 dependant on experience. Some occasional travel to our Newbury site will be a requirement of this role.
This role is applicable to work at home for up to 2 days per week after a probation period.
