About Aafaq Bookstore

AAFAQ BOOKSTORE is opening a new bookshop at 165 Edgware Road in central London.

We specialise in Arabic and English books, stationery and related products. Our aim is to create a welcoming and professional bookshop serving local residents, students, educational institutions and visitors.

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and organised Bookseller / Bookshop Sales Assistant to join our London team.

Main responsibilities

Welcome customers and assist them in finding suitable Arabic and English books and other products.
Provide helpful book recommendations and respond professionally to customer enquiries.
Operate the point-of-sale system and process cash and card payments accurately.
Arrange, price and shelve books, stationery and other products.
Replenish stock and help maintain accurate stock records.
Receive deliveries and check products against delivery documents.
Prepare online customer orders and arrange their handover to delivery couriers.
Create attractive book and product displays.
Support bookshop promotions and occasional social-media content.
Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming shop environment.
Carry out other reasonable duties connected with the day-to-day operation of the bookshop.

Essential requirements

Fluency in spoken Arabic and the ability to read Arabic are essential due to our Arabic book collection and customer base.
Good spoken and written English.
Friendly, confident and professional customer-service skills.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a small team.
Comfortable using computers and learning a point-of-sale and stock-management system.
Willingness to work flexible shifts, including some weekends.
The right to work in the United Kingdom.

Desirable experience

Previous experience in bookselling, retail, customer service or operating a point-of-sale system.
A genuine interest in books, reading, literature and culture.
Experience with stock handling, displays, online orders or social-media content.

Training will be provided where required.

This is a full-time, on-site role at our Edgware Road bookshop, with an immediate start preferred.
