We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Cook to join our St Joseph’s Residential Care Home for the elderly and people with dementia.
As Cook you will support the Kitchen Manager by preparing and cooking nutritious, well-balanced meals in accordance with agreed menus, individuals dietary requirements, HACCP procedures and relevant food safety legislation. The role requires a strong commitment to maintaining excellent standards of hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen organisation, while working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a positive and dignified dining experience for all residents. Working between the hours of 7am – 6pm dependent on the needs of the kitchen, 2 days a week and every other weekend

Responsible for: Assisting the Chef Manager in the provision of a high quality catering service to the residents of St Joseph's Providing catering for other departments on occasion.
Role Purpose: To prepare, cook and serve safe, nutritious and appetising meals for residents, ensuring that food is produced to a high standard and that all food safety, infection prevention and control, and health and safety requirements are consistently met within a residential care setting.
Key Tasks: Food Production
1 To prepare, cook and present meals to a consistently high standard in line with agreed menus, portion sizes and service times (breakfast, lunch, evening meal and snacks as required).
2 To plan and organise the preparation and cooking of meals in line with agreed menus, portion sizes and service times, ensuring food is produced to a consistently high standard.
3 To prepare and cook a range of meals, snacks and light refreshments, including soups, main meals, desserts and special dietary options, ensuring food is nutritious, appetising and suitable for residents’ needs.
4 To ensure all food is prepared, cooked, stored and served in accordance with food hygiene legislation, HACCP procedures and local kitchen standards. 5 To contribute to menu planning and daily meal provision, preparing dishes that meet residents’ dietary, nutritional, cultural and religious requirements, including texture-modified diets, allergies and intolerances.
