Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Room Leader/Deputy Nursery Manager to join our vibrant childcare team. This role involves supporting the management of daily nursery operations, leading a team of early years practitioners, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and education for children. The successful candidate will play a vital part in creating a nurturing environment that promotes children’s development, safety, and wellbeing, whilst adhering to all regulatory standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth within a supportive organisation committed to early childhood education.

Responsibilities

Assist the Nursery Manager in overseeing daily nursery activities and ensuring smooth operational functioning.
Lead and supervise a team of nursery practitioners, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to promote best practices in childcare.
Plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate activities that stimulate children’s learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children by maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety procedures, and risk assessments.
Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication and personalised care approaches.
Support staff development by organising training sessions and encouraging continuous professional development.
Maintain accurate records of children's progress, attendance, and behavioural notes in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Contribute to creating an inclusive environment that respects diversity and promotes equality for all children and families.
Ensure compliance with nursery policies, procedures, and statutory regulations at all times.

Skills

Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting.
Strong understanding of early childhood development principles and childcare best practices.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise effectively with children, parents, and team members.
Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail.
Passionate about working with children and committed to their holistic development.
Organised with excellent planning skills to manage daily routines efficiently.
Valid driving licence is desirable for transporting children or attending external meetings or training sessions.
Knowledge of current safeguarding policies and procedures relevant to early years settings.
