We have an opportunity for an experienced Roofing Category Manager to support our branch network on a full-time, permanent basis.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in roofing supplies along with buying and sales experience, and a proven ability to deliver effective category strategies for roofing products to both trade and DIY customers.

The duties and key responsibilities include:
- Contribute to the delivery of the MBTS sales and margin targets whilst maintaining a value proposition for the customer.
- Define and implement branch stock profiles, trials, special buys, new product introductions and exit plans.
- Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best cost prices, optimise minimum order quantities, optimise lead times and agree terms and conditions.
- Ensure MBTS legal obligations are met in respect of its buying practices.
- Monitor sales and cost price mix – and in collaboration with MBTS management team, ensure margins are maximised whilst maintaining a value proposition for the customer.
- Review supply base, seeking new sources and/or rationalisation opportunities to maintain a competitive advantage.
- Manage supplier files and upload relevant information onto Bistrack.
- Formalise supplier agreements and communicate the details with the stock management team to ensure the products are ordered in accordance with the agreements and are available when required.
- Negotiate promotional opportunities with suppliers to promote awareness, newness and/or value.
- Implement a plan for slow moving products.
- In liaison with the Sales Manager, agree merchandising, marketing and promotional plans to drive the category sales.
- Work with branch staff to continuously improve their knowledge and credibility of Roofing products.
- Ensure that relevant Fortis Roofing category meetings and BMF category forums are represented by MBTS and learnings are shared to improve buying/selling practices.
- Support the branch teams to build a sustainable base of customers; Identifying leads, building a pipeline and converting into sales; Interpreting architects’ drawings and generating quotes; Providing product information; researching and recommending new opportunities; recommending profit and service improvements.
- Seek and continuously develop knowledge and information about competitor activity, pricing and tactics, and communicate this to relevant departments with recommendations.
- Attend any other meetings, group discussions or carry out other reasonable duties on request of your line manager

- Experienced roofing professional with a buying/sales background

- Experience of trade merchants.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be self-motivated, have strong interpersonal skills and can solve problems at source.
- Must possess excellent organisational skills and good time management.
- Must be self-driven, genuine with a positive attitude and clear focus.
- Must be sufficiently mobile and flexible to work beyond the call of duty to achieve results.
