Full job description

Support Worker – Semi-Independent Supported Accommodation

Location: Taunton / surrounding areas
Job Type: Full-time / Permanent
Hours: Shift-based rota or weekday provision, depending on service needs

About the Role

We are seeking dedicated Support Workers to join our team, supporting young people aged 16–18 in their journey toward independent living. You will offer practical, emotional, and day-to-day support, helping them build life skills, maintain routines, and achieve positive outcomes.

Working Hours

Your working pattern will depend on service needs and may include:

24/7 provision: 5 x 48.5-hour shifts per month, including sleep-ins.
Weekday provision: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, with no sleep-ins.

Flexibility is key, and shift patterns will be discussed during recruitment.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with young people to develop life skills (e.g., budgeting, self-care, cooking, and education/employment engagement).
Provide encouragement, guidance, and set clear, safe boundaries.
Monitor progress and contribute to individual support plans.
Attend meetings and reviews related to the young person’s care.
Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed, reporting concerns promptly.
Maintain daily records, weekly reports, and support with property checks.
Uphold a welcoming environment, mindful of diversity and individual needs.
Ensure adherence to policies, including GDPR, lone working, and health and safety.

Ideal Qualifications

Level 2 or Level 3 in Health and Social Care is highly desirable.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Understanding of safeguarding, or willingness to train.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
