Job Title: Level 4 apprenticeship in Children, Young People and Families Practitioner

Job Overview
We are looking for caring, reliable and motivated people who want to build a career supporting children and young people in residential care.
This role is suitable for someone who is already working in care, support work, youth work, children’s services, or a similar role, and wants to gain a recognised qualification while developing their professional skills.
You will work with children and young people who may have complex needs and who need consistent, safe and supportive care. You will help them with their day-to-day life, education, wellbeing, routines and personal development.
As part of the role, you will complete the Children, Young People and Families Practitioner Level 4 apprenticeship, with a focus on residential childcare.

Responsibilities

Support children and young people in a residential care setting
Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with children and young people
Help create a safe, stable and supportive home environment
Support children and young people with their health, education, social and day-to-day needs
Contribute to care plans, placement plans and individual support plans
Help young people develop confidence, independence and life skills
Work as part of a team to promote the values and ethos of the home
Follow safeguarding procedures and help manage risk
Communicate clearly with colleagues, families, carers and other professionals
Keep accurate records and contribute to reviews where required
Reflect on your own practice and continue developing your skills

What Training You Will Receive:
Through the apprenticeship, you will develop your knowledge and skills in areas such as:

Safeguarding children and young people
Supporting children who may have experienced trauma or difficult life experiences
Building positive relationships and attachments
Child and adolescent development
Managing risk and keeping young people safe
Working with families, carers and other professionals
Residential childcare legislation and professional responsibilities
Supporting placement plans and individual care needs
Reflective practice and professional development

You will receive support from your employer and training provider throughout the programme.

Who This Role Is Suitable For

Have experience in care, support work, children’s services, youth work, education, residential care or a similar setting
Enjoy working with children and young people
Are patient, calm and resilient
Can build positive relationships while keeping professional boundaries
Are confident dealing with challenging situations
Care about helping young people feel safe, supported and listened to
Are willing to learn and complete a recognised qualification
Can work as part of a team
Are reliable and able to follow safeguarding procedures

Previous experience in children’s residential care is helpful, but we are also open to people with transferable experience from adult care, support work, education, youth work or similar roles.

Entry Requirements
You will need to:

Be eligible to work in the UK
Be willing to complete a DBS check
Be able to complete apprenticeship training alongside your job (within working hours)
Have, or be willing to work towards, the required English and maths level before completing the apprenticeship
