Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant/Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for culinary arts and experience in a kitchen environment to develop their skills further. The position involves supporting the kitchen team in delivering quality meals in a timely manner, ensuring a positive dining experience for all guests.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients
Cook and assemble meals according to specified recipes and standards
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and sanitising surfaces
Ensure all food safety protocols are adhered to at all times
Support the team during busy service periods by serving meals and attending to guest needs
Stock ingredients and supplies, notifying management of shortages or issues
Follow health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment
Assist with inventory management and storage of food items

Requirements

Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is preferred but not essential; willingness to learn is important
Knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods
Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service times
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends if required
