Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Care Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in care home settings, assisting with daily living activities and ensuring the highest standards of care. This role requires effective communication skills and the ability to follow care plans meticulously while fostering a supportive environment for our patients.

Responsibilities

To provide leadership to the care staff within the service
To provide care in accordance with current best practices, according to policy and procedures, agreed standards, legislative requirements and relevant regulations, under the direction of the registered nurse
To supervise the care services within the organisation in accordance with agreed standards
To maintain skills at a current level, and undertake such training and development as may, from time-to-time, be required to maintain practices as up to date
Ensure service users are at the heart of the care delivery and their wishes and preferences enhance their wellbeing
Supervise staff and ensure that all staff contribute to the efficient running of the service
Support service users to maintain their relationships and connections with the local community
Monitor the wellbeing of each service user, being aware of any change impacting on care and care plans, ensuring that new needs are met, and written records are amended to reflect any variation, communicating updates to the registered nurse
Be responsible for informing the nurse of any changes in the needs of service users
Support service users with their medication requirements
Act as a key point for contact with service users, their relatives and visitors, as well as health and social care professionals involved in their wellbeing, ensuring that any reasonable requests are acted upon, and concerns or complaints are escalated
Be responsible for promoting and protecting the welfare of those individuals supported by the service
Develop effective working relationships with other employees within the service
Work in cooperation with members of multidisciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for service users
Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by management

Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 or above in Health and Social Care or equivalent or higher qualification
Previous experience as Senior Care Assistant in home care or a care home setting.
Strong command of English for effective communication with patients and colleagues.
A caring nature, positive attitude and the ability to work in a team
Excellent organisational skills
