Trainee Luxury Range Cooker Restoration Technician
Do you ever find yourself tinkering, fixing things and getting your hands dirty? We might be looking for you.
Eclatz is a specialist company refurbishing high-end range cookers. Each Lacanche, Falcon, AGA or Rangemaster that enters our workshop is restored with meticulous attention to detail, before being prepared for sale as a premium finished product.
You will work directly alongside the owner, learning the process hands-on. This is not a generic cleaning or warehouse role. It is an opportunity to build practical skill in a rare craft while helping turn neglected appliances into valuable, showroom-standard cookers.
The right person will understand that the work begins with the unglamorous part. Deep cleaning, stripping, degreasing and preparation are the foundation of every excellent refurbishment. You must be willing to start there, do it properly, and earn more responsibility through the quality of your work.
Hours, Pay and Engagement Basis
- Initially around 3 days per week, usually 8 hours per day
- £16.50 per hour
- Self-employed contractor basis. (we can help set that up)
- Days agreed flexibly around workshop workload and availability
- Meaningful commission may become available once you can complete work independently to the required standard and contribute beyond basic workshop tasks
There is potential for more regular work, increased responsibility and progression as your skills, judgment and reliability develop.
The Role
Every refurbishment starts with preparation. That means deep degreasing, carbon removal, dismantling components, cleaning difficult areas and getting each cooker ready for the next stage.
Your work will include:
- Deep cleaning and preparation, including grease and carbon removal
- Using power tools, specialist equipment and professional cleaning products
- Sanding, polishing and preparing panels, trims and components
- Assisting with repairs to seals, burners, fans, doors and related components
- Polishing, detailing and carefully reassembling finished cookers
- Keeping tools, parts and the workshop clean, organised and safe
- Checking your own work and taking pride in every visible detail
Over time, trusted people gain exposure not only to restoration, but also to the standards, decisions and problem-solving involved in turning an incoming cooker into a premium product that a customer wants to buy.
What We’re Looking For
You may be a good fit if you naturally enjoy repairing, restoring or improving things. You might work on cars, motorbikes, bicycles, appliances, machinery, furniture or personal projects in your own time.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Practical, physically capable and comfortable using tools
- Patient enough to do repetitive, dirty preparation work to a high standard
- Curious and able to learn by watching, asking sensible questions and improving through repetition
- Reliable, punctual and able to take responsibility without being chased
- Safety aware around chemicals, power tools and heavy appliances
- Detail-focused, with pride in visible results
- Interested in understanding how a small specialist business works, not only completing the task directly in front of them
This will not suit someone looking only to clock in, do the minimum and leave. It will suit someone who wants to become genuinely capable, trusted and useful in a growing specialist business.
Formal qualifications matter far less than attitude, practical ability, consistency and a willingness to learn.
What You’ll Gain
- Direct exposure to specialist luxury range cooker refurbishment
- Training in tools, techniques and processes you are unlikely to find elsewhere
- The ability to restore high-value appliances to a premium standard
- Clear progression into more complex repair, preparation, polishing, reassembly and quality-control work
- Increasing exposure to how restoration quality, operational decisions, presentation and customer value affect a small business
