Skilled MIG/TIG Welder Fabricator - Bench Production
Location: Barton Hill Way, Torquay
Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour, depending on experience and weld test

Monday to Thursday: 07:30-17:00
Friday: 07:30-14:00
Overtime: Available during busy periods
About the role
British Manufacturing Solutions Limited is looking for a skilled Welder Fabricator to join our workshop team in Torquay.
This is a bench-based production role making batches of metal components. Much of the work is visible on finished products, so weld quality, consistency and pride in the finished job are essential.
The work includes MIG and TIG welding, fabrication from engineering drawings, cutting, drilling, dressing and finishing components to a high standard.
This is not site work. It is workshop-based manufacturing with steady production, practical problem-solving and a focus on quality.
What you will be doing
- MIG and TIG welding mild steel, stainless steel and some aluminium
- Fabricating parts from basic engineering drawings
- Working on components up to around 10mm thickness
- Producing clean, consistent welds where the finish matters
- Cutting, drilling, dressing and preparing parts
- Checking your own work before it moves to the next stage
- Keeping your bench and workshop area clean, safe and organised
- Working with the wider team to keep jobs moving through production
What we are looking for
- Proven MIG welding experience
- TIG welding experience
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
- Good attention to detail and pride in finished work
- Confidence using normal workshop tools and machinery
- A practical, reliable and tidy approach
- Someone who can work independently once shown the job
- Willingness to help improve jigs, processes and workshop flow
This role would suit someone who enjoys proper bench fabrication, takes pride in neat visible welds, and wants a stable workshop role in a small manufacturing business.
Weld test
A practical weld test will be required as part of the interview process. This will be used to assess weld quality, accuracy, drawing interpretation and general workshop approach.
