Overview
Our vision focuses on the recovery and growth in an academic, social, emotional and vocational sense for young people. We are looking for a caring, patient, assertive, enthusiastic individual who is ready to provide support and 1:1 learning for young people aged between 7 - 18 years. The ideal candidate has previous experience in a specialist SEMH setting with experience and/ or relevant training in SEN, trauma, attachment, anxiety, neurodiversity, PDA, and ADHD. Sensitivity and flexibility are necessary qualities, as well as the ability to work as part of our effective team. Knowledge of Thrive and PACE would be advantageous.

This exciting opportunity is a full time role to maximise building a trusting and happy relationship with young people. This role also requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

Responsibilities

Supervising and providing particular support for young people, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
Assisting with the development and implementation of Individual Plans including EHCP, Thrive and Curriculum Pathways.
Establishing constructive, effective and trusting relationships with young people, whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
Interacting and responding to young people relative to their individual needs
Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all young people
Encouraging young people to interact with others and to engage in activities
Setting boundaries and high expectations of conduct and engagement whilst promoting young person’s self-esteem and independence
Assisting with the display of young people’s work
Using strategies, to support young people to achieve learning goals
Planning of learning activities derived from the relevant Wildings curriculum pathways /Thrive
Monitoring, assessing and providing feedback on young peoples’ responses to learning activities through Earwig and CPOMS and accurately recording achievement/progress as directed
Providing detailed and regular feedback to teachers on young peoples’ achievement, progress, problems etc.
Promoting good behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encouraging young people to take responsibility for their own behaviour
Establishing constructive relationships with parents/carers and where appropriate participating in feedback sessions with parents/carers
Providing clerical/administrative support e.g. photocopying, typing and filing

Qualifications

Good levels of literacy and numeracy Attainment of 5 GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) including Maths and English or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and aptitude
Previous experience of working with children/young people with SEMH/SEND needs
Organisational skills
Good Communication skills
Good IT skills
Able to prioritise between different demands
Ability to work to deadlines
Self-motivated, and able to work in a team
An interest in children and education
Patient and friendly approach
Compassionate and sensitive approach to children and their needs
Displays an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people
Able to work without supervision
