Receptionist – The New Thomas Arms Hotel

Location: The New Thomas Arms Hotel, Llanelli
Position: Receptionist
Hours: [Full-time / Part-time]

About the Role

We are looking for a friendly, organised and proactive Receptionist to join the team at The New Thomas Arms Hotel.

This is much more than a traditional hotel reception role. Our reception team plays an important part in keeping the hotel running smoothly day to day and is often at the heart of what is happening across the business.

As well as welcoming guests, checking guests in and out and dealing with enquiries, you will have the opportunity to get involved in events, weddings, bookings, customer service and the general organisation of the hotel.

You will be one of the first points of contact for our guests and customers, so we are looking for someone who is confident, approachable and genuinely enjoys helping people.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your role will include, but won't be limited to:

Welcoming guests and providing a warm and professional first impression.
Checking guests in and out of the hotel.
Taking and managing room, restaurant, function and event enquiries.
Answering telephone calls, emails and online enquiries.
Managing bookings and updating our booking systems.
Dealing with guest requests and resolving issues in a professional manner.
Taking payments and handling cash/card transactions accurately.
Assisting with wedding enquiries, appointments and planning.
Supporting the organisation and running of weddings and private functions.
Helping with event planning and preparation, including liaising with customers and suppliers.
Preparing information for upcoming events and ensuring the wider team is aware of arrangements.
Assisting with rooming lists, function details and event requirements.
Supporting the management team with the day-to-day running of the hotel.
Helping to ensure the reception, public areas and guest-facing areas are maintained to a high standard.
Communicating effectively with housekeeping, kitchen, bar and management teams.
Promoting our hotel, restaurant, events and facilities to guests and customers.
Completing administrative tasks and maintaining accurate records.
Dealing with unexpected situations and finding practical solutions.
Providing excellent customer service from the first enquiry through to the end of the customer's visit.

Weddings & Events

A particularly important part of this role will be supporting our wedding and events business.

You may be involved in:

Meeting couples and discussing their requirements.
Showing prospective customers around the venue.
Assisting with wedding and event enquiries.
Helping to coordinate event details.
Communicating changes and requirements to the relevant departments.
Preparing function information and schedules.
Assisting on the day of weddings and events where required.
Helping to make sure customers receive the experience they have been promised.

Previous hotel, hospitality, events or reception experience would be an advantage, but we are also interested in hearing from people with the right attitude and personality who are keen to learn.
