Overview

Starting 20th July for 6 weeks, 25hrs a week.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting young people through mentoring, educational activities, and positive engagement. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of 16-20 year olds, fostering their personal development and well-being. The role requires a genuine interest in working with young people, especially those who may benefit from specialised support such as special education needs programmes.

Responsibilities

Plan, support, organise, and deliver engaging activities tailored to the interests and developmental needs of young people.
Provide mentorship and guidance to support behavioural development and build self-confidence.
Support young people with special educational needs by adapting activities and providing personalised assistance.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants.
Collaborate with other professionals to ensure holistic support for young people.
Monitor progress and behaviour, maintaining accurate records of participation and development.
Promote positive relationships through effective communication and active listening.
Assist in organising community events or programmes aimed at youth engagement.

Skills

Proven experience in teaching or working with children and young people.
Strong mentoring skills with the ability to motivate and inspire trust.
Knowledge of youth work principles and best practices for engaging diverse groups of young people.
Experience working with children requiring special education or additional support is desirable.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan activities that are both educational and enjoyable.
Compassionate approach with outstanding communication skills, capable of building rapport with young people from varied backgrounds.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst demonstrating initiative independently.
