Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in food service within a vibrant café setting, ensuring a positive experience for all customers.

Duties

Take orders from customers accurately and efficiently, ensuring prompt service
Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialised drinks, adhering to quality standards
Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, or baked goods
Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including tables, counters, and kitchen equipment
Ensure compliance with food safety standards at all times
Serve customers with professionalism and courtesy, creating a welcoming atmosphere
Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during shifts
Follow health and safety regulations diligently to maintain a safe working environment

Skills

Knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards
Previous barista experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment
Basic food preparation skills to assist with daily operations
Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
Basic maths skills for handling transactions and cash reconciliation
Strong time management abilities to prioritise tasks efficiently and ensure timely service
