Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Dog Kennel Assistant to join our team. This role involves caring for Greyhounds in a professional environment, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and be committed to providing excellent care. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic setting, supporting both animals and their owners while gaining valuable experience in animal care and customer service.

Responsibilities

Assist with the daily care and supervision of greyhounds in the kennel, including feeding, cleaning, and providing companionship.
Monitor the health and behaviour of animals, reporting any concerns to senior staff promptly.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kennel areas, ensuring a hygienic environment for animals and staff.
Assist with exercise routines, including walking dogs within designated areas.
Support with administrative tasks such as recording animal details and updating client records.
Assist with light grooming or basic veterinary-related tasks as required.
Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times to prevent injury or escape.

Qualifications

Prior experience in veterinary settings or animal care is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
Genuine passion for working with dogs and understanding of their needs.
Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, such as moving supplies or assisting with larger dogs.
Good communication skills with a friendly, professional demeanour.
Reliable, organised, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Basic knowledge of animal behaviour and health is advantageous but not mandatory.
Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends may be beneficial but not compulsory.
