About Us:

The Architects Registration Board (ARB) is the UK regulator for architects. Our role is set out by Parliament in legislation, and we work to keep the public safe by maintaining a Register of Architects. To be entered and retained on the Register an individual must have qualifications that prove their knowledge and skills and commit to uphold the Architects Code and to maintain and develop their knowledge and skills throughout their career.

We want a world in which the built environment inspires those who live and work in it, reflects the needs of society so that people are safe and can live well, and helps to tackle the fundamental challenges our planet faces.

The Team:

The Professional Standards team is responsible for upholding the standards expected of architects in the UK. The team manages complaints about architects and oversees investigations and disciplinary processes where concerns are raised about professional conduct or competence. Their work helps maintain public confidence in the profession and ensures that architects meet the standards required by the Architects Code.

The Role:

Please Note: This role is a 12 month fixed term contract.

The Case Preparation Officer (CPO) works closely with ARB’s solicitors to prepare and manage cases for consideration by the Professional Conduct Committee (PCC).

Working proactively and independently, the postholder oversees a caseload of complaints of varying complexity. They are responsible for monitoring the progress and cost of cases handled by ARB’s solicitors, ensuring cases progress in a timely manner, identifying and resolving issues where they arise. The CPO ensures cases are thoroughly investigated and all necessary documentation is complete before cases are referred for scheduling. The CPO is responsible for obtaining witness evidence and drafting reports and consent orders for submission to ARB’s solicitors and the PCC.

The position requires confidence, sound judgement, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong case management abilities.
