About The Role

Our apprenticeships combine working in a great job, with training, development, and a competitive salary. You will be given dedicated time in your working week to focus on your studies. You will also have access to a network of colleagues from within the organisation and tutors to support your learning.

The Business Administration apprenticeship consists of a 24-month opportunity to learn and to provide support to one of the following teams:

The Adult Brokerage Team: The team works closely with Social work, Health colleagues, in NHS, Finance colleagues, Providers and Commissioning services to arrange care and support that is safe, timely, person centred and delivers value for money. We are responsible for sourcing and negotiating a wide range of adult social care services including, Placement and Homecare services to ensure that eligible residents receive appropriate support in the right setting and at the right time. You will help ensure that key services such as data handling, including weekly reports, handling of contracts and other regular updates necessary within Brokerage run smoothly. You will coordinate the team monthly meetings, manage the Voids reports and coordinate the monthly duty rota.

Data and Finance – Contracts: Come and join our team where we can affect a positive impact on the vital social care services for residents across our community. What sets our team apart is that we work as part of a large wider team of contracts officers, commissioners and brokerage officers giving a valuable background in Adult Social Care practices. Through our finance and data support we can demonstrate how our work directly impacts the lives of the residents we care for – either by supporting the shaping of services or ensuring value for money. The Data & Finance role is an opportunity to work with financial information and data from our commissioned services.

Service Delivery Team for Estate Services: Working as part of the frontline Service Delivery Team, you will help ensure that key services such as caretaking, repairs, and waste and recycling run smoothly. You will assist with logging and monitoring service requests, such as repairs or maintenance issues, and coordinate the weekend rota for caretakers ensuring adequate coverage across our estates.

To apply for this apprenticeship, you must:

Be aged 16 or above and
Be an Islington resident or
Islington care leaver or
Islington school leaver in the last 12 months

You will also need to satisfy the following course entry requirements:

Not already have a qualification at the similar level or above in this apprenticeship subject
Not have extensive skills or experience in this apprenticeship subject.
Pass the course screening assessments

Interviews: w/c 10th August 2026

Apprenticeship Start Date: September 2026

The Job - Working as a Business Administration Apprentice for the Council you will:

Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders within the Council and in Islington more widely.
Provide support within the team such as booking rooms, organising events, accompanying officers and co-ordinating meetings.
Record actions and decisions on our IT systems.
Use various software to carry duties including Word, Excel and any other software necessary. Training will be provided.
Provide support to stakeholders by telephone, email and face to face.

Training and Development – As part of your role you will:

Complete a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship qualification.
Have the opportunity to study Maths and English if you have not already achieved a GCSE or Level 2 equivalent.
Participate in the Councils apprenticeship network and various development activities.
Have access to a buddy/mentor.

After you have successfully completed your apprenticeship, you will have gained valuable workplace experience and attained your level 3 qualification. This will improve your chances of finding work within the Council, with other employers or help you move on to a higher-level apprenticeship.
