Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activity Leader to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in local care homes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors, particularly those living with dementia, and will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through creative programming and social interaction. This position requires excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to care.

Responsibilities

Plan, organise, and implement a variety of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
Facilitate group and individual activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical engagement.
Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities are integrated into each resident's care plan.
Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants during activities.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to encourage participation and gather feedback on activities.
Document participation levels and outcomes of activities to assess their effectiveness.
Assist in training volunteers or junior staff members involved in activity programmes.

Requirements

Must be able to drive and have access to a car.
Previous experience in senior care or assisted living environments is preferred.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with residents who may have dementia or other cognitive impairments.
A caring attitude towards seniors, demonstrating empathy and patience at all times.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Creativity in developing engaging activities that cater to diverse interests.
Flexibility to adapt activities based on the needs of residents or changing circumstances.
