Deputy Manager

Salary: £49,426.20 - £51,544.88 (243-hour contract per month)

Objective

To support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day leadership and management of the children's home, ensuring the home consistently delivers high-quality, trauma-informed care for children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

You will help ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations and quality standards while leading, supporting and developing the staff team to provide safe, nurturing and therapeutic care that promotes positive outcomes for every child.

Key ResponsibilitiesRegulatory

Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence, taking responsibility for the effective operation of the children's home.
Lead, support, supervise and develop the residential care team.
Support the Registered Manager to maintain positive relationships with Ofsted and other regulatory bodies.
Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
Ensure statutory notifications and reports are completed within required timescales.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of childcare legislation, safeguarding, child protection and relevant statutory guidance.

Management

Provide effective leadership, guidance and support to the staff team.
Promote a positive, therapeutic and child-centred culture throughout the home.
Ensure all visitors are appropriately authorised and supervised.
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
Ensure company policies and procedures are consistently implemented.
Support recruitment, induction, supervision and staff retention alongside the Registered Manager and HR team.
Assist with investigations, disciplinary meetings, grievance procedures, return-to-work interviews, welfare meetings and other employee relations processes.
Promote effective communication across the home, Head Office and external professionals.
Build and maintain positive relationships with Local Authorities, commissioners, education providers, health professionals and other partner agencies.

Care & Therapeutic Practice

Support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality, trauma-informed care tailored to each child's individual needs.
Ensure children's care plans, behaviour support strategies, risk assessments and placement plans are implemented and regularly reviewed.
Promote therapeutic approaches that support emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour.
Participate in multi-agency meetings, statutory reviews and planning meetings where required.
Support children to achieve positive outcomes in education, health, independence, emotional wellbeing and family relationships wherever appropriate.

Training & Staff Development

Support staff through regular supervision, coaching and performance management.
Ensure all mandatory training remains compliant.
Promote continuous professional development and reflective practice.

Health & Safety

Ensure Health & Safety policies and procedures are effectively implemented.
Promote safe working practices throughout the home.
Ensure equipment, premises and the home environment remain compliant with relevant legislation.
