EQUANS are looking for a Stores Operative in Wakefield for our Pinderfields & Pontefract Hospitals contract. This role would be a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
JOB PURPOSE:
To control and manage the receipt and distribution of all goods from Central Store to
designated area.
JOB SUMMARY:
To provide a customer focused, Stock Management service that ensures customers
maintain optimum stock level at all times to meet their needs. This requires co-
ordinating a team within the Central Store, prioritising workloads and expediting stock
to meet demands.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Professional
- Receive, inspect, and accurately book in all deliveries to the central store, ensuring goods match delivery documentation and are recorded in line with procedures.
- Pick, pack, and issue stock required for tasks, ensuring orders are fulfilled accurately and delivered within required timescales.
- Maintain accurate stock records by carrying out regular stock checks, cycle counts, and supporting investigations into any discrepancies.
- Store all goods safely and systematically, ensuring stock is clearly identified, appropriately rotated, and protected from damage, loss, or wastage.
- Operate mechanical handling equipment, including forklifts and motorised tugs, where trained and authorised, in accordance with safety procedures.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all Health & Safety legislation, manual handling guidelines, and company policies and procedures at all times.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment, ensuring all equipment is used correctly and potential hazards are reported promptly.
- Comply with quality standards and actively report any risks, incidents, near misses, or unsafe practices.
Service Delivery
- Contribute to the delivery of an efficient and reliable stock management service, supporting the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Follow established operational procedures while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and service quality.
- Respond to stock requests promptly, providing a professional and customer-focused service to wards and departments.
Equipment & Resources
- Use all materials, stock, and equipment responsibly to minimise waste and ensure cost-effective operations.
- Ensure all equipment is used correctly, stored safely, and maintained in good working order, reporting any faults as required.
Team Working & Communication
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and logistics staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and service continuity.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and customers, building positive working relationships with ward and department staff.
- Attend team briefings and follow instructions from supervisors to ensure consistent and effective service delivery.
Training & Development
- Complete all mandatory and role-specific training, including Health & Safety and equipment operation where required.
- Maintain and develop the skills and knowledge necessary to carry out duties effectively and safely.
General Responsibilities
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements, including data protection standards.
- Provide support across other Trust locations when required to meet service needs.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role and level of responsibility.
