Lead critical fleet operations that keep defence moving

The role

As a Fleet Maintenance Manager, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the operational readiness and safety of a specialist vehicle fleet supporting defence operations. Leading a skilled team of technicians, you’ll oversee maintenance delivery, drive compliance, and ensure assets are available when they’re needed most.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine hands-on engineering leadership with operational management in a highly regulated and purpose-driven environment, where your work directly contributes to national security.

Day-to-day, you will be:
Leading and managing a team of technicians to deliver servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance
Planning and coordinating all fleet maintenance activities to maximise vehicle availability
Overseeing diagnostics, fault identification, and repair decision-making
Managing workshop assets, tooling, and spare parts inventory
Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

This is a full-time role working 39 hours per week, based on site at RAF Valley.

Essential experience of the Fleet Maintenance Manager:
Experience working within or alongside a military or highly regulated workshop environment
Strong knowledge of HGV maintenance operations and fleet management systems
Understanding of ADR regulations and specialist vehicles such as fuel bowsers
Experience producing and implementing risk assessments and COSHH documentation
Proven experience in procurement, supply chain processes, or local purchasing.

Qualifications for the Fleet Maintenance Manager:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline
Valid UK HGV driving licence (Category C or C+E)

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (SC) security clearance for this role.
