What’s the role all about?
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SHE Advisor to join our SHE team, to cover London & South of England region, in particular our London based Construction sites. There will also be occasional visits to some of our construction projects across England and Wales.
With an ambitious order book ahead of us we are looking for an individual who can hit the ground running and support us by being able to provide professional advice and support in relation to Occupational Safety and Health and Environmental Management and supporting the team in delivering SHE excellence.
As the SHE Advisor you will ensure that a holistic approach is taken towards H&S matters including manufacturing and construction work activities through close liaison with the factory and construction teams
Working 37 hours a week / 8am-4.30pm Monday - Thursday and 7.30am to 12.30pm on a Friday
As a SHE Advisor you will be involved in:
· Support the SHE Manager with the creation, delivery and monitoring of SHE plans which underpin the SHE strategy and supports the achievement of our operational objectives.
· Be a key participant in the SHE Support Team by participating in the development of the management system and participate in projects to improve the level of its effectiveness.
· Build and develop effective, collaborative working relationships with the operational leadership and managements teams in order to positively influence their SHE capabilities.
· Work with the operational leadership and management teams to improve our safety culture, and to develop a motivational and rewarding working environment that will facilitate the achievement of business objectives and company values.
· Champion the use of the SHE management system throughout the Company and ensure the quality of information contained is as required.
· Ensure the delivery of the company’s SHE KPIs and report monthly on progress. Where areas of non-conformance or areas for improvement are identified ensure that these are raised and escalated as necessary to gain compliance and improvement.
· Drive the delivery of SHE excellence across the operational areas they are responsible for: Support other Advisors in monitoring SHE compliance levels and fostering the relationship between the operational teams and the SHE team to ensure continuous improvement and regular reviews of contract and external customer’s needs.
· Support and encourage positive employee engagement and communication processes at all levels. Build constructive working relationships with client and union representatives as required.
· Support SHE initiatives and projects outside of assigned areas of responsibility as allocated by the SHE Manager.
· Collaborate with the business development team regarding bid support and mobilisation assistance.
· Support the operational teams in the management of incidents and near misses including incident investigation and the application of SHE guidance in relation to RIDDOR reportable events or other notifiable events with the relevant enforcing authorities.
What are we looking for?
· NEBOSH General and/or NEBOSH Construction. Equivalent Health and Safety Qualification with a minimum of Grad IOSH (or equivalent) membership.
· Must have a CSCS Card with the discipline of health and safety advisor/manager
· Must have significant previous experience in a health and safety role
· Experience of Structural Steel activities both manufacturing and construction (desired).
· Hold a recognised environmental qualification, preferably with ISEP Membership
· Hold a recognised incident investigator qualification (Preferred) or proven experience, as well as an internal auditor experience/qualification.
· Demonstrable experience of the maintenance of management systems to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
· Understanding of CDM and behavioural safety
· Have excellent verbal and written communication skills including report writing.
· Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office Applications, (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
· Be flexible and adaptable to situations as and when they arise.
· Ability to build collaborative working relationships across the business
· Experience with Root Cause Analysis and sound problem-solving skills
· Engaging communicator who can articulate themselves clearly both verbally and in writing.
· Can demonstrate a strong work ethic, is self-motivated and resilient.
· Works well using their own initiative and pays attention to detail.
· Commitment to completing deadline driven tasks and meeting the needs of the customer.
· Enthusiastic team member who will positively contribute to the continued development of the team and wider business
