Full job description

West Suffolk Professionals (WSP) recruit and manage all temporary staff within the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.

We currently seek Bank Domestic Assistants to provide flexible cover for our Newmarket Hospital site. Shift times range from 06.00-14.00; 14.00-20.00 or 18.00-22.00 and cover may be required for weekdays and/or weekends depending on the needs of the service.

Applications from those with previous experience in a cleaning role especially within the NHS would be well received. You should have the ability to travel independently to the Newmarket Hospital site, and if parking on site is required, this remains free.

Please note: WSP are unable to support sponsorship roles on Bank, as we cannot offer guaranteed hours.

Bank Domestic Assistants are required to assist with day-to-day duties that are essential to the smooth running of the hospital. These duties include but are not limited to the following:

To work as a member of the Facilities Team, striving to achieve and maintain high standard in all areas of the community hospital and community sites as requested by your line manager.

To work within the guidelines of the new NHS cleaning standards, ensuring proper standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained.

Complies with instruction received from their line manager.

To understand C.O.S.H.H and to adhere to the guidelines.

To be aware of and able to practice the Trust’s policies and procedures.

To attend Mandatory and Statuary training sessions as required.

To ensure all stock levels are maintained to replenish supplies.

Job responsibilities:
To clean in all areas of the community hospital / sites, clinical and non-clinical areas.

To use cleaning materials and equipment as instructed and trained by your line manager.

To have a good understanding of COSSH and to report any issues to your line manager.

To be aware of the Health and Safety Policy and report any issues of concern to their line manager.

To engage with patients, staff, colleagues, and stakeholders and to deliver the highest standards of customer care and service.

To be conscious of confidentiality at all times.

To ensure all stock levels are maintained and to replenish supplies by requesting supplies as and when required from your line manager.

To maintain good communication with stakeholders (colleagues, patients, visitors, managers, and other staff).

To communicate using variety of different methods (text message, face to face, email, letter, 121’s and staff meetings)

To have good customer service skills when talking to patients, staff, contractors, stakeholders etc.

To establish work systems to achieve high standards of hygiene.

Maintain quality in your own work and encourage others to do the same.
