Full job description

Collingham Church View Surgery LS22 5BQ are looking to recruit a further part time Medical Receptionists /Care Navigator to work alongside our existing, hardworking but friendly team. We are looking for a good team player to join us working over our two sites.

Up to 32 hours per week with flexibility to cover for sickness/holidays working over Churchview or Thorner sites.

Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or NHS experience is desirable but not essential. Customer Care/dealing with the public experience preferred.

Summary of main duties include:-

Reception

· Operate computerised appointment system to ensure efficient flow of patients using the Triage protocols in place

· Book appointments accordingly

· Care Navigation – Signpost patient to most appropriate service

· Ensure urgent consultations are allocated appropriately

· Book patients home visits in line with practice policy

· Handling any other patent requests via telephone of face to face in a timely manner

· Explain practice arrangements to new and temporary patients in line with practice policy

· Ensure repeat prescription requests are actioned/ passed to relevant staff

· Samples received at reception check from completed & pass to Nurse

· Be aware and comply with patient confidentiality

· Dealing with requests from colleagues or community teams

· Booking Ambulances as requested

· Book appointments on extended access rotas

· Ensure reception area and waiting room is kept neat and tidy

Admin duties

· Scanning hospital letters/reports onto patient’s records

· Emailing and photocopying as required

· Collating patient data/help input survey/flu information

· Sending out letters/texts to patients where appropriate

· Be aware of access to medical records/ online access protocol

· Change patient address / telephone as required

· Check and prepare temporary resident forms

Person specification

General education to satisfactory level, Grade C or above 1

· Good telephone manner

· Ability to communicate clearly

-Computer literate

-Able to work alone and in a team environment

-Must be able to work on own initiative

-To pass on information accurately

-To be able to cope under pressure
