Full job description

We are seeking a candidate with an understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). PBS is a person-centred approach used to support individuals who may display behaviours of concern. It focuses on understanding the reasons behind behaviour, improving quality of life, and proactively supporting individuals through structured strategies, clear communication, and consistent, respectful support. The expectation in this role is to apply PBS principles in all aspects of care to promote independence, reduce distress, and encourage positive, meaningful engagement for the people we support.

Hourly Rate: £14.80 per hour

Hours: 37h (Mon-Fri)

Contract type: Permanent FT

Location: Haringey

Centre 404 is a friendly, prominent, and thriving charity with an excellent reputation for providing high quality support and services to people with learning disabilities and their families across 9 London Boroughs.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PBS Support Worker to provide essential care and support during day shifts. The role involves assisting service users with their daily needs, ensuring their safety, and promoting their wellbeing in a nurturing environment. The successful candidate will play a vital part in implementing care plans and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies, and fostering positive development for the service users under our care. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young lives while working within a supportive team.

We are always looking for friendly, energetic people to join us in achieving this valuable purpose and to promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of those we support through Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches.

Person specification

· Flexible and able to carry out shifts throughout the week
· Willing and able to offer physical support to service users, including moving and handling safely
· Understanding of and sensitivity to the discrimination experienced by members of vulnerable and/or minority groups
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Able to manage time and workload effectively
· Able to work on own initiative, proactively resolving issues
· Able to maintain professional boundaries and handle confidential information appropriately
· Committed to enabling choice, independence, and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities and/or Autism through Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
· Ability to engage people with learning disabilities in challenging, stimulating and enjoyable activities using PBS principles

Centre 404 is dedicated to staff development and supervision and we will provide a detailed induction and ongoing training and support in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and other key areas. We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults at risk and we are looking to recruit people who share these values.
