Job Specification:
The CAD Technician is responsible for producing accurate, detailed technical drawings for bespoke joinery and doorset products. The role supports design, manufacturing, and project detailing by ensuring all drawings meet business and client specifications, manufacturing requirements, and relevant industry standards. It also involves liaising with internal departments to confirm requirements and specifications and communicating with customers where needed to obtain sign-off and approval.
- Produce detailed 2D/3D CAD drawings for joinery and doorset products, including doors, frames, screens, and associated components
- Interpret architectural drawings, tender documentation, and client specifications into workable technical designs
- Liaise with project managers, estimators, and production teams to ensure design intent aligns with manufacturing capabilities
- Prepare fabrication drawings, cutting lists (where required), and production information for workshop use
- Ensure all drawings comply with fire rating compliance, acoustic, and certification requirements where applicable
- Revise drawings in line with design changes, RFIs, and client feedback
- Maintain drawing registers, revision control, and document management systems
- Support value engineering opportunities by proposing practical design improvements
- Attend internal design review meetings and contribute technical input
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and procedures
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a CAD Technician within joinery, doorsets, or interior fit-out
- Strong working knowledge of CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
- Understanding of bespoke joinery construction methods and materials
- Experience producing manufacturing / workshop drawings
- Knowledge of fire-rated doorsets and compliance standards (desirable)
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication skills with the ability to work cross functional.
