Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in assisting the Head Chef with kitchen operations, overseeing food production, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to develop leadership skills within a vibrant hospitality environment. The Sous Chef will be responsible for supervising kitchen staff, managing food preparation, and maintaining a smooth workflow during service.

Duties

Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing daily kitchen operations.
Supervise and support kitchen staff, including cooks and junior chefs, ensuring efficient teamwork.
Oversee food production, ensuring dishes meet quality standards and presentation requirements.
Prepare ingredients and cook menu items in accordance with recipes and safety standards.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations.
Manage stock levels, order supplies, and minimise waste to ensure cost-effective operation.
Ensure all food safety protocols are adhered to at all times.
Support serving staff during busy periods to ensure prompt service delivery.
Train new team members on kitchen procedures, safety standards, and food preparation techniques.

Requirements

Proven experience in a supervisory role within a professional kitchen environment.
Strong background in food production, cooking, and food preparation.
Extensive kitchen experience with a solid understanding of culinary techniques.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hospitality settings.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure during service hours.
Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable.
Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and front-of-house staff.
A passion for culinary excellence and continuous learning within the hospitality industry.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £33,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
