Join Independence Support Ltd (ISL) – Make a Real Difference in People’s Lives!

At ISL, based at our Tranmere Site, we operate a supported living project dedicated to empowering individuals with with learning disabilities and complex needs. Our service supports 20 people in self-contained apartments, enhanced by the latest assistive technology. We aim to support individuals to live as independently and confidently as possible. The service operates 24 hours a day.

We are looking for a flexible individual to join our team in providing outcome focused support, enabling people to live as independently as possible.

The assistant registered manager will supervise a number of staff and be responsible for key areas as delegated by the Service Manager.

Role and Responsibilities

To line manager staff to deliver a service of excellence, ensuring that the service capacity is maximised at all times. Alerting the RM to any instances of poor performance and taking the first steps in absence management
To plan and organise the team rota’s to ensure commissioner’s contract requirements are met and optimise the use of all resources.
To support staff in the undertaking of relevant risk assessments and reviews, as required to ensure the effective development of staff and delivery of the service. To ensure that every client has an up to date support plan and risk assessment.
To complete prompt, efficient, sensitive and high quality assessments and support planning for clients, ensuring that effective goals are set to achieve maximum outcomes.
To provide advice and guidance with regard to responding to complaints/enquiries from clients, families/carers and 3rd parties. Being the first point of contact for resolving complaints and/or conflict wherever possible, before escalating if required
To comply with the reporting requirements under Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults legislation
To be innovative and creative in looking at ways to improve service delivery, designing and delivering projects as required to improve efficiency and quality of service.
To be proactive in identifying opportunities for service growth and organisational development, using local bases as a ‘hub’ for growth and expansion to deliver community services where feasible
To work with a variety of health and social care professionals to ensure that the client receives the best outcome possible.
Responsible for ensuring that staff comply with quality, health and safety standards in line with CQC requirements. This will include equipment checks, fire evacuation procedures and staff training requirements.
To ensure that all obligations are met under CQC including reporting, notifications and evidencing how the service is meeting the key lines of enquiry
To complete contract monitoring KPI returns in the absence of the Registered Manager and to participate in contract monitoring meetings.
To undertake all mandatory training especially in relation to Moving and Handling and annual competency update and to act as a trainer in moving and handling techniques with staff and other programmes as required
Provide advice and guidance regarding complex situations.
To ensure own training is kept up to date and all services provided adhere to required standards and quality systems.
To ensure the upkeep of electronic records on the agreed operational platform
To provide data and reports as required by the Director of Operations to monitor and achieve maximum utilisation and performance
To create and maintain champion roles for the team to aid their personal development
To act as an inclusion champion making sure clients fully access statutory and public community services.
To provide hands on support for clients when required
To take part in on call duties as required
To ensure staff areas are kept clean and tidy and in line with Health and Safety expectations
To work flexibly across a 7 day rota to meet the needs of the service

Full induction training will be provided however some experience of working in a similar setting is desirable as the circumstances of the people being supported will be complex.

All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
