Main Purpose of Role
We are seeking an experienced maintenance manager / supervisor within a manufacturing environment.
You will be responsible to supervising the activities of a team of 3 multi skilled maintenance engineers at our brick manufacturing site. The role will require you to balance your time between hands on working to guide and support your team and with over-seeking and managing the department.
You will be responsible for all maintenance activities relating to the plant and equipment at the Dudley site, including dealing with breakdowns, planning and implementing an effective preventative maintenance programme and maintaining legislative compliance
Key Accountabilities

Day to day supervision and hands on support to the maintenance department to effectively maintain facilities, plant and equipment, thus enabling effective site operations

Ensure that all plant and equipment, services and facilities are maintained to meet health and safety, legislative and insurance requirements

Ensure that all activities within the maintenance department fully comply with all relevant Health and Safety requirements including:
-
Company Health and safety policies
-
LOTOTO procedures
-
COSHH related issues
-
Preparation and training of Risk Assessments
-
Provision and enforcement of Safe Operation Procedures
-
Always wearing of the correct PPE
-
Agree with management team, statutory equipment inspection schedules, ensure resources are available to meet these and communicate plans to all involved

Develop, implement and ensure ongoing effectiveness of a maintenance management system that cost-effectively optimises asset availability and performance. This will typically include:
-
Appropriate response to breakdowns and work requests
-
Inspection, lubrication and servicing regimes
-
Development and implementation of effective preventative maintenance programmes, based on manufacturers recommendations and historical breakdown data
-
Spares policy, including stockholding and control of purchasing and replacement
-
Specification of equipment / services and identification, selection and negotiation with suppliers / contractors (Ongoing contracts and stand-alone items) for areas of substantial expenditure

Introduction of autonomous maintenance to manufacturing teams

Ensuring allocated projects are effectively managed to deliver objectives in a timely, cost-effective manner. These projects will typically include:

Provision of manufacturing facilities and equipment, including installation, modification, movement, decommissioning and removal of major items
-
Implementation of substantial innovations and improvement ideas to help to deliver group targets and objectives

Other product and operational improvement initiatives
-
Optimise energy usage through application of best practices, minimising waste and where possible, ensuring energy efficient systems are introduced and maintained
-
Ensuring environmental requirements are met. This will typically include:
-
Arrange and monitor interceptor condition to meet A2 Permit conditions.

Control disposal of oils, rags and consumables
-
Provision and maintenance of environmental protection equipment e.g. bunds
-
Ensuring good communication between maintenance staff and other departments, through the effective use of formal communication channels and development of good interpersonal relationships
-
Attend daily production meetings and fortnightly site improvement meetings
-
Maintenance of the site asset register to ensure that all required inspections and checks are in place and are conducted in a timely manner
-
Preparation of near miss incident reports / accident reports, as required, to ensure appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented

Control of maintenance department spend within budgetary limits
-
The raising and control of purchase requisitions on company SAP system for all maintenance related goods and services
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential Criteria
-
HNC level or equivalent in electrical and or mechanical engineering
-
Experience in maintenance in a similar manufacturing environment ideally withing the refractory or foundry industries
-
Clear communicator with the ability to delegate effectively
-
Good working knowledge of Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
-
Good working knowledge of electrical circuits, ideally 18th edition qualified
-
Strong organisations skills to effectively balance workload between hands on working and managing the department
-
Good working knowledge of Microsoft office
-
Promote good house keeping within the maintenance department in line with 5’S best practices
-
The ability to plan-ahead, set goals and organise effectively to achieve objectives
Desirable Criteria

IOSH supervising safely Certificate or Equivalent
-
Counterbalance truck licence

Able to commute to work to start on early shift pattern
(Monday - Thursday 06:00 - 14:00, Friday 06:00 - 12:00)
Some out of normal hours working may be required in the event of breakdowns or to carry out essential maintenance which cannot be undertaken whilst the plant is operating.
